Academy Band

Academy Band is a year-long class designed to introduce students to a brand new instrument and develop their skills at a beginning level.  Students choose from Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, or Percussion.  These students learn to form an embouchure, read basic rhythms and notes and beginning level articulation and expression.  Academy Band performs two concerts per year on campus in December and May.

Upper School Band

We are currently building our Band program to include multiple sequential levels of Bands that perform increasingly difficult literature and build skills to intermediate and advanced levels.  Middle School and High School Band are year-long courses with performances at two concerts in December and May as well as Pep Band for athletic events and pep rallies on campus.

Students in Upper School Bands participate in Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) District 3 Honor Band and can audition for GMEA All-State Band.  As we continue to build the Band program at Calvary, new performance and enrichment opportunities will be added including Solo, Ensemble, Large Group Performance Evaluation, and other clinics and educational opportunities.

Worship Band

Worship Band is a High School elective class that meets five days a week during the school day, with after school rehearsal on Wednesday and a Thursday morning soundcheck. This class is designed to be an educational approach to serving and leading through music in Chapel at Calvary.

Students apply and audition to join the class and are expected to have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus and a heart for serving their peers on and off stage. Students develop and grow in their musical skills, but students need to be proficient on their instrument to participate. The instrumentation and make-up of the class varies from year-to-year based on enrollment.
