October 21st will forever be the date that Calvary Football had it's first winning football game. Calvary won their first football game in school history with a 27-21 victory over Holy Ground Baptist Academy.
Calvary led 14-7 at halftime after Derek Bigham scored on a 9 yard run and Andrew Walsh returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown. Calvary tied the score at 21 with 1:17 left in the 4th quarter on a 40 yard pass from Jacob Ammons to Duncan Newton and Jeremy Walker's PAT (Point After Touchdown). With the game tied at 21 and 2 seconds remaining, Duncan Newton intercepted a pass and returned it 41 yards for the winning touchdown. Justin Moss led the Knights with 107 yards rushing and Jacob Ammons completed 4 of 6 passes for 66 yards.
With this victory, Calvary has clinched a spot in the playoffs. The Knights playoff seeding will be determined after their game this Friday against Creekside Christian. If Calvary wins this week, they will be the #3 seed and if Calvary loses, they will be the #4 seed. Playoffs begin Nov. 4th.

CCS Announces New Football Program News from Brian Osborne, CCS Athletics Director
Calvary Christian School would like to officially announce the creation of the High School Football Program.
The Knights will have their inaugural season this upcoming
Fall 2011. The CCS football program will be playing in the
ICSGA (Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama). Calvary will be playing in the 11-man football division which consists of 9 other Christian schools mostly residing in the Atlanta area.
The Knights will open their inaugural season on August 26,
in Loganville, Georgia, against Loganville Christian Academy
at 7:30 pm.
Since Calvary Christian School does not have a football field on their campus, the football team will be playing their home games at Britt David Park in Columbus.

The CCS football team currently consists of 32 players (11 seniors, 5 juniors, 11 sophomores, and 5 freshmen). Most of these players have been going through spring practice over the past few weeks. The players have been working hard and the enthusiasm has been high as these players have put on football equipment for the first time ever at Calvary. With a coaching staff of 8, the players have been getting a lot of individual work learning the fundamentals of football.
