Cheerleaders to go to the FCC Georgia State Competition December 10th
Our "road to competition" began in September and it has been a wonderful, rewarding, stressful, exhausting and crazy experience. In addition to practices for the football season three days week, the girls had an additional two and a half hour practice once a week focused on competition. A series of events, including the football team making it to playoffs, our music mix arriving a month late, and the start of basketball season, caused us to really have to kick it into high gear at the beginning of November. We started 6:00 am practices, additional night practices, and practicing on Saturdays to prepare for Calvary's return to the GISA state competition on the 19th of November. Despite the fatigue and stress that came along with such a schedule and the fact that ninety percent of the team had never competed in cheerleading, the girls did beautifully at the state competition. If their final pyramid had not fallen at the end of the routine, I truly believe we would have placed in the AAA division. December 10th is the FCC Georgia State Championships. The girls have continued their difficult practice schedule and have grown tremendously as young women in the last three weeks. They will be competing in the medium varsity division as well as for the title of "Grand Champions" in the Georgia Christian/Parochial school division. Regardless of the results of the day, Sarah and I are so proud to be their coaches and we know that God will bless them in His way for the commitment and spirit they have shown over the last three and a half months.
