Quiet Strength:
The Principles, Practices, & Priorities of a Winning Life
by Tony Dungy
"When Tony Dungy led the Indianapolis Colts to victory in the Super Bowl XLI -- and made history as the first African American coach to win the big game -- millions of people, amazed by the success of his quiet, authoritative leadership style, wondered: how does he get it done?
In the pages of this fascinating memoir, Tony Dungy reveals the secrets to his success --- principles, practices and priorities that have kept him on track despite overwhelming personal and professional obstacles, including firings, stereotypings, and the tragic loss of a child."

A Deficit of Decency
by Zell Miller
"Out of reverence and love for his country, Senator Zell Miller assessed the core of the United States in a gut-wrenchingly honest speech to the U.S. Senate. In this book, he continues his call for a return to a sense of duty and decency that lies at our nation's foundation by addressing these issues: the disconnected Washington elite; the decline of traditional Christian values; the outdated and unfair federal tax code; the irresponsibility of the liberal media; and the lack of decent role models in sports and music."

Walking from East to West
by Ravi Zacharias
"Renowned Christian thinker Ravi Zacharias shares the intimate account of his journey beyond a turbulent childhood and the Eastern culture of his homeland… and of the search for truth that sustained him."

The Young Earth:
The Real History of the Earth -- Past, Present, and Future
by John Morris
Did God create our world in six literal days, or did it evolve on its own over countless eons of time? The age of the earth -- a key question in the creation/evolution debate -- has been portrayed as an issue of science versus religion, but is it really that simple? Dr. John Morris' The Young Earth scientifically examines the evidence to see what the earth actually reveals about itself. This classic and definitive work, newly revised and expanded, demonstrates that the Bible can be trusted in questions of science and history.

The school has changed its "Reading Counts" testing program to the "Accelerated Reader (AR)" testing program. One benefit of the change is that the school has a subscription to AR that will allow our students to have access to over 100,000 quizzes. Because "Accelerated Reader" is web-based, we will always have the most up-to-date quizzes available, plus all the quizzes that the vast AR program already offers to schools.
One of the many benefits of the Accelerated Reader program is the ability for parents to see if any book has a test available. If you purchase a book or check one out from the public library you need only go to the AR Book Finder to determine whether the book has a quiz and the grade level of the quiz. Simply follow the directions on the website.
The website is www.arbookfind.com.
Note: Students may take tests in their classrooms
or in the CCS Library/Media Center.

Special thanks to all the parents and students who gave their support to the Fall book fair. The proceeds earned from the book fair were used to make improvements to the CCS Library Media Center. CCS would like to issue special thanks to the following people who helped make the library "makeover" possible:
Steve Pate (for his decorating expertise!), Chance Galloway (for painting), Joe and Donna June Waller of Innovative Marble (for the beautiful marble desk top), Aracelis Williams and Lisa Heffernan (for moving and organizing all the books!), and Pam Williamson.
As you can see from the photos, students are enjoying spending time in the CCS Library Media Center!
