Homecoming Spirit Week - 2008
Preschool Scenes from Spirit Week . . .

Recently I was asked about how and why my husband and I chose to commit to Calvary for the long term. My daughter Brooke started at Calvary last year in Ms. Shiver’s K3 class. She took an immediate liking to school and her teacher. As the year moved along, we wondered, “How we could keep paying for Brooke to attend Calvary Christian?” I remember Ms. Shiver telling me that God provides and we would find a way.

At the time we were looking for a home to buy and thought maybe we could move into a good school district. At the same time, we were really upset at the thought of Brooke not attending the school we had all fallen in love with. Brooke was growing both academically and spiritually…it was wonderful to watch. The day that changed everything was back in February 2007.

Glen Schultz, author of Kingdom Education gave a speech at the Parent Meeting about raising our children to be able to fight evil and that required sacrifice. Part of that sacrifice meant giving our children a Christian education. I left that meeting telling my husband I didn’t care if I had to sell my right arm and live off bologna sandwiches…we were going to keep Brooke at Calvary. So, we purchased a modest house in a good neighborhood and made other choices in our lives. I won’t say it’s always easy, but the sacrifice has been worth it. We recently re-enrolled for K5 and I hope you do too!

God Bless!

Pre-School Art Update

Pre-school art students have started the year with ice painting which involved using ice as a paint brush. The pictures have all been framed to send home with the students. We are currently working on our Fall pictures making collages of Fall trees.

School Nurse's Corner School Policy on Illness

If your child has been sent home because of vomiting, diarrhea, or with a fever, the child may not return to school the next day. He or she must be symptom free and fever free WITHOUT medication for 24 hours. If your child has been sick all night with a stomach virus, DO NOT bring him or her to school the next morning. He or She is contagious, exhausted and needs his or her rest.

A Note from the CCS Library . . .
From Director Connie Reynolds

A list of "Reading Counts" book quizzes that are available for students to take on the computers in the CCS Library/Media Center has recently been placed in each teacher's classroom.
If a student needs to know if a certain book qualifies as a reading counts book and has a corresponding quiz, they should check with their teacher. Hopefully, this easier access to the list will make it more convenient for both parents and students throughout the school year.
