"America Sings" Trip Highlights
Refuge, the middle school choir recently traveled to Stone Mountain to participate in the national music/community service event "America Sings" which is hosted annually around the nation by John Jacobsen. Over 50 students went on the 3-day trip which also including some sight-seeing prior to the event. Students visited the Georgia Aquarium, Fernbank Museum, and Stone Mountain Park.
During America Sings the group performed twice on the main stage, helped with community service projects, attended performance workshops led by professional performers, and joined in the 2,000+ strong mass choir performance that evening.
Special thanks to CCS Choral Director Judy Meeks for preparing the singers and for organizing and leading the trip. Thanks also everyone who made donations and to the parent chaperones who accompanied the students. Without all of you, this trip would not have been possible.
