CCS Sets Record for Collecting Pop Tabs for Charity

Calvary Christian School came in 3rd place this year for the most "pop tabs" turned in of all of the area schools - public, private and homeschool - that participated in collecting pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House to help pay expenses.

Our total was 191 pounds of Pop Tabs!

Last year we finished 5th place with 161 pounds. The year before, we collected 121 pounds.

"I’m thrilled that we keep collecting more and more each year," said CCS's Alisha Fowler who was in charge of the program at CCS. "Thanks to everyone who collected and turned in their pop tabs all year. Now start collecting for next year!"

Elementary Art Update

Elementary students started out with line drawing this year, now we are working on pastels -- surface drawing, over-lap mixing, blending by tissue paper, etc.

Due to lack of space to store the students' work in the classroom, we are sending it home with the students. However, please be sure to save your child's artwork as Mrs. McLemore will be entering student artwork in several art shows and contests this year.

  A Note from the CCS Library . . .

From Director Connie Reynolds

A list of "Reading Counts" book quizzes that are available for students to take on the computers in the CCS Library/Media Center has recently been placed in each teacher's classroom.
If a student needs to know if a certain book qualifies as a reading counts book and has a corresponding quiz, they should check with their teacher. Hopefully, this easier access to the list will make it more convenient for both parents and students throughout the school year.
