Sports Physicals For 2008-09 Athletes

All middle school, jv, and varsity students who will be playing sports in the upcoming year are required to have physical exam for sports participation by a medical doctor PRIOR to the season. A pre-participation sports physical evaluation form must be completed and signed by your doctor and turned in before you will be able to participate in events OR practices.

The completed form is due back to the athletics department no later than the first day of school of next year - August 11, 2008. You may turn in your form to the Athletics Department or to your coach or mail your form to:

Option 1

For your convenience Shaw High School in Columbus is offering sports physicals on Saturday, July 26, at 10:00 am, for a nominal cost of only $7.00. The Institute of Athletic Health Care and Research affiliated with The Hughston Foundation are providing this service at Shaw for area athletes. Students who plan to have their physical done at Shaw need to pick up and information package that includes the required forms they need to take with them for the physical. These packages are available in both the high school and middle school offices.

Another option is for students to go to their personal physician (make your own appointment) for their sports physical. Please be sure to print the form below (click on link) to take with you to your appointment for your doctor to complete and sign.

FYI, Acute Care Express (ACE) located near the school at 7901 Veteran's Pkwy, does "sports physicals" for $40. Their hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, and Saturday - Sunday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. No appointment is necessary. Remember to print the form above (click on link) to take with you.

Varsity Golf Team WINS Region!

Congratulations to the CCS varsity golf team who WON the
4AA Region Golf Tournament held at Summer Grove Golf Course in Newnan on Monday, April 21.

CCS golfers Will Helms, Joseph Chong, and Grant Carter were named to the All-Region Team. Congratulations to Coach Ryan Carrick who was named "Coach of the Year."

The top 16 AA high schools competed for State title on Monday, April 28, at the Dublin Country Club. Calvary finished 10th in the field of 16 schools having the youngest team at the tournament and playing on a rain-soaked course. Eighth grader Joseph Chong was our leader with the lowest round for CCS, followed by Will Helms, Granter Carter, Drew Wetherington and Brad Moore.

Friday, May 16, is the day to sign up for next year's Cross Country teams. Athletic Director John Tucker and coach Albert Wall will be on hand in the cafeteria during lunch to answer questions and sign up students. Girls and boys currently in grades 5 - 11 are eligible to sign up.

Summer Basketball Camps for Girls

We have several basketball camp opportunities for our girls this summer. Below is the list of camps. More information about each camp is given on the registration form (click link below).

1. All Girls Basketball Camp, June 9-11
   Open to all girls currently in grades 5-11 who are interested
   in playing MS or varsity basketball next year.
   Cost - $15, CCS Student Center, 1:00 - 5:00 pm,

2. FCA Girls Basketball Camp, June 12-15
   Open to girls currently in grades 8-11 who are interested
   in playing varsity basketball next year.
   Cost - $110, Columbus State University, Time TBA

3. Lagrange Academy Girls Basketball Camp, Jun 16-18
   Open to girls currently in grades 8-11 who are interested in
   playing varsity basketball next year.
   Cost - $35, Lagrange, Georgia, Time TBA

Qualifiers for State Wrestling Tournament

Last weekend three of our varsity boys went to AAA Regionals and all qualified to go to the GISA AAA State Wrestling Tournament to be held February 8-9 at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville , GA.

The CCS varsity girls volleyball team, who were named region champions for our region, traveled to Augusta, Georgia, this past weekend to play in the GISA State Volleyball Tournament.

On Friday, the Lady Knights beat Trinity Christian and Young Americans Christian in two great matches. On Saturday, however, the defending state champions, Augusta Prep, beat CCS in the State semi-finals.

"Making it to the Final Four is a great accomplishment,"
said Athletic Director John Tucker, "and the team is to be congratulated for the awesome season they had with winning
the Region 3 AA title ... way to go girls!"

to such an outstanding season!

Our Lady Knights varsity volleyball team took a major step towards the region championship and a #1 seed in the state tournament coming up the end of October. They smashed Griffin School in 3 games on October 4 to move into first place!

"The entire team displayed courage and toughness in a great match," said CCS Athletic Director John Tucker.

EVERYONE, please come out this Thursday and Friday to see them play at home against Heirway and Community Christian, at 6:00 pm.

Congratulations to the middle school soccer "select" tournament team for winning the FPD Showcase Tournament championship beating FPD 1-0, West Side Baptist 9-0, John Millege Academy 7-0, and typing FPCA 2-2. It was a team effort in scoring 19 goals total with 3 shut outs.

DO NOT park in the new Greenhouse parking lot when you attend athletics events at the athletic field OR AT ANY OTHER TIME. These parking spots are reserved (at all times) for Greenhouse construction workers, residents, caretakers, visitors, and emergency vehicles. Please pass this word along to anyone you see parking in the parking lot who is not supposed to.

If you are unauthorized to park there, it is possible your vehicle will be towed and you will be responsible for any and all fines! Not to mention, you will not be very "well thought of" by school authorities and your peers.
