President's Message

Calvary Ministries is honored you chose to visit our website. It is my hope you will see throughout this site our commitment to Christian education for children in our community. Our basic philosophy for over 35 years has been to “encourage students to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, develop a Biblical worldview, attain their individual academic excellence, and fulfill their God-given responsibilities in the home, church, and community.”
When I came to Calvary over 35 years ago, God impressed upon me the vision of caring for people from the time they are born through the last days of their life. God has been good to allow us to see this vision continually grow. Calvary Christian School was born in l975 in central Columbus with 13 students in Pre-K and kindergarten. It has grown to over 550 students from grades Pre-K through high school and encompasses a 56-acre campus at the north end of Columbus. A quick visit to calvary-ministries.com will show you how we also care for the aged through our retirement communities and for all stages of life through Calvary Ministries. Calvary Baptist Church is committed to its sponsorship of the school. Our Church family understands and supports the Christian education provided by CCS.
Your visit to this site indicates that you also see the importance for a Christian education. I can assure you, not only will your children receive an education that ranks among the best in the city, but they will receive it through instructors and teachers who truly care and love them. Our teachers pray each and every day for their students. Our classroom size allows our teachers to give one-on-one attention to their students and therefore more readily recognize areas of individual need.
Again, we are honored that you chose to visit our website. We hope you enjoy what you see and are able to find answers to your questions. I encourage you to give our Admissions Director, Donnie Smithwick a call at 706-323-0467, ext. 204 or email her at donniesmithwick@calvaryknights.com. She considers it a privilege to walk new families through the admissions process.
Serving Him,
Dr. Donald R. Wilhite
Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church
President, Calvary Christian School.
