The CCS Annual Fund
The 2010 Annual Fund Celebration Banquet
September 30, 2010, 7:00 pm
See ticket information below...
Dear Parents, Alumni and Friends of CCS,
For those new to Calvary Christian School, the Annual Fund Dinner is in its fifth year, and is a way for CCS friends and family to contribute to the ongoing needs of the school which regular tuition does not include. Prior examples of annual fund purchases include the CCS school bus, innovative math, science, reading curriculum for grades 1-12, facility upgrades, and technology advancements.

Our speaker will be CCS alumus (Class of 2000) and Harvard graduate John Coleman. John is also co-author of the book How to Argue Like Jesus: Learning Persuasion from History's Greatest Communicator.

This year no particular monetary goal has been set. However, we hope to have 100% of our parents participate by attending the dinner to hear Mr. McWilliams articulate the future projects we'd like to undertake. Also encouraged to come are grandparents and alumni who have been so faithful to CCS in the past.
Your friend,
John Anker
2010 Annual Fund Chairman

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT THE ANNUAL FUND
Q: Private schools are already expensive. Why must additional money be raised for the school?
R: Tuition does not cover all of the annual cost of educating students. Like most independent schools, Calvary conducts an Annual Fund to help provide program enhancements and bridge the gap between tuition income and the actual cost of operating a school. Revenues generated from tuition only stretch so far. We want our students to have the extras needed to turn a good education into an outstanding one.
Q: Are gifts to the Annual Fund tax deductible?
R: Yes. Gifts to the Calvary Christian School Foundation qualify as charitable contributions and can be fully deducted to the limit of IRS regulations.
Q: What is the Calvary Christian School Foundation?
R: It is a new 501 (c)3 foundation established to receive, disburse, and report funds received through the Annual Fund, grants, and corporate gifts.
Q: What if I can make only a very small contribution? How will my gift make a difference?
A: Every gift counts! When we approach foundations and corporations for grants, they strongly consider percentage of parent participation in giving to the Annual Fund. Participation is viewed as an indicator of support for the school and its mission. One hundred percent of our Board Members are supporting this year’s Annual Fund. One hundred percent of our Annual Fund chairs are supporting this year’s Annual Fund.
B: If I make a pledge, when will I be expected to pay?
A: You may “pledge now, pay later”. Pledges must be paid before the end of the fiscal year, May 31. You may pay in installments. Pledges may be paid on a semi-annually, quarterly, or monthly basis. Reminder notices will be sent according to the instructions you indicate on your pledge form.
Q: Who will be included in the Annual Fund campaign?
R: The Annual Fund gives Board Members, faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, and CCS friends in the community an opportunity to invest in the next generation.
